This is my first Mother’s Day as a mom of two!! It’s amazing how your heart expands to love and cherish two little beings! I am so blessed and happy to be Reese and Rylee’s Mommy!!! I LOVE you girls!

The NC ZOO

We went to the zoo back in April. It was an absolutely beautiful day. Most of the animals were out and about and the people were too…just at lunch!! I guess there was a feeding frenzy! Reese had lots of fun riding in the stroller with her baby sister. She enjoyed every exhibit and was full of excitement seeing all the different animals! Her favorite animals of the day were the elephants. She also like the baby baboons. Reese kept a tight grip on the zoo map and wanted to know what’s next!? We went to every exhibit and had two tired little girls! Reese was asleep before we drove through the zoo exit!! I think next year Rylee will enjoy the zoo more!! She slept most of our visit. We had a great family day!! Enjoy the pictures!

TWO Months!!!

As I sit here looking at my sweet baby, I can’t believe that 10 weeks have passed since her arrival. Rylee is definitely having more periods of being awake and is finding her voice! I love to hear her baby coos and babbles. She slept for 6 1/2 hours at 5 1/2 weeks which was welcomed by her Mama!! Thank the Lord we have been blessed with two sleeping babies. I usually get a good 5-6 hour stretch at night. She still feeds every 2 hours during the day, and she knows when it’s been 2 hours almost to the minute…it’s amazing!! At her two month check up, she weighed 12.2lbs and measured 23 1/4 inches. Rylee was 75th-90th% on the growth chart. Overall, we have a healthy baby girl!!

I love watching Reese adore her baby sister. She is an excellent big sister and is truly a great helper. Rylee follows Reese with her eyes and will just smile and coo. The sight of their sisterly bond developing in front of you definitely warms my heart. I’m so happy we have added to our family! Reese and Rylee are the best gifts ever!!

Rylee is one month old as of March 22, 2011! It's hard to believe that this little girl has been in our life for 4 weeks! We are beyond blessed with a wonderfully sweet baby girl. Robbie, Reese, and I are so in love with Miss Rylee. Reese adores her little sister and is a great help! Both girls have lots of family that love them so much! We have had many friends and family coming to see and meet our new princess, and family staying every weekend. The extra hands have been nice, especially to entertain Reese and give her some of their undivided attention. Thanks to everyone that visited!!

Big Sister & Little Sister!

Rylee has been such a good baby! I had in my mind that having a second baby may be difficult at first, but it has actually been easier than I had anticipated. She has been sleeping peacefully at night and eating like a champ! Rylee can have her little diva moments in the morning, once we are all awake. It's not every morning, but sometimes you have to walk around with her, bounce her, feed her a little more, or just hold and cuddle her! I think these are times when she wants the extra attention!! It has been decided that Rylee looks more like me. We got the baby pictures down and she definitely favors me more than her daddy. Her eyelashes are really blonde and her hair line is identical to mine as a baby. It will be interesting to see how Miss Rylee changes over time. We all knew from the beginning that Reese was her daddy’s twin, so it will be neat to see Rylee’s traits such as her hair color and eye color. This first month has been one of learning our new normal and how to care and provide for two children. There has been a few trying moments, but I would have to say that our first month as a family of four has been a success!!

One Week old Two Weeks old

We decided to keep Rylee inside for a little while due to the big influx of flu and rsv in the month of February. So, after Rylee turned 3 weeks old we decided to venture out. Her first outing we ate lunch at Chili's, shopped at Target, and went to a Mom group dinner! She had a BIG day! Now, Rylee has been out and about...taking her big sister to preschool, Chickfila, the park, afternoon walks, and friends' houses. Hopefully, she will experience her first baseball game soon!

Three Weeks Old

Rylee had her ONE month checkup with the pediatrician on Friday. She weighed in at 9lbs 15oz and measured 22 inches...75th% on the growth chart. Her birth weight was 7lbs 15oz and she dropped down to 7lbs 7oz at our first peds visit, so she gained 2.8lbs, yay!!! Everything looked great, however, the pediatrician felt hip clicks on her exam. Reese had a hip click, too. We were followed by an orthopedic surgeon for her first year, which consisted of an ultrasound and x-rays. But in the end everything turned out to be perfect. Hopefully, Rylee's clicks will go away by her 2 month checkup. If not an ultrasound will be ordered. I hope and pray the clicks disappear.

Since spring has arrived, I know this next month we will have a lot more outdoor time!! I'm so blessed to have 8 more weeks at home with my two sweet girls. I am definitely cherishing these moments and memory making time!

So, when my midwife told me that I was being admitted I made all the phone calls. Luckily, my friend Carolyn & her mom were going to help with Reese until my family arrived at the hospital. A HUGE thanks to the Whitfields!! Reese was able to go and play at the playschool while Robbie was able to be with me.

My Labor and Delivery nurse, Maria, introduced herself and walked me over to my labor room. When I was settled in my room my contractions were every 2-4 minutes and starting to hurt. I started to grimace and was not able to continue talking through the pain. I decided to wait until Robbie arrived until I got my epidural. I didn't want it to speed things up and Robbie miss the delivery. Thank goodness he arrived by 8:30ish and my epidural process started a little after 9am. Unfortunately, my epidural slowed things down, but after working all night I needed some rest!! Once my epidural was in place, I was super comfortable and was able to take a nap...lasting about 1hr 30mins max. I know an hour and half isn't that long after working all night, but I felt like I had slept for hours...EPIDURALS are wonderful!! My family started to trickle in a little after 11am. Reese arrived along with my Mom and Stepdad. I had packed a little present for Reese to play with while we waited. She opened some "nerds" smell good nail polish and Baby in my pocket toys. Thankfully my friend, Kendra, had given her a Strawberry Shortcake coloring book that was a big hit with Reese and her cousins! The family that arrived for the big event included my mom, stepdad, niece Graclyn, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew Blake, and niece Claire. I was able to visit with family, watch TV, update friends and family via texts, and eat popsicles all while trying to remember this special moment.

My midwife checked me again around 1ish. I was 7cm and station +1. I wasn't too impressed, but my midwife reassured me that it was great progress because Rylee had descended more in the birth canal. I started feeling a lot of pressure around 3 o'clock. Before I wasn't feeling anything. My left leg even felt dead. However, around this time I had more feeling in my left leg and started to really feel some pain. I called for the Anesthesiologist to come in my room. When she did her little ice check, I could feel everything...I wasn't blocked at all! I was in LOTS of pain to the point of tears. I was squeezing Robbie's hands and the side rails. For those women that have babies without epidurals...Bless Your Hearts!! I had two choices 1) pull the epidural and replace it for pain relief or 2) push the baby out without an epidural. I actually contemplated pushing Rylee out...I could feel that she was so low. My midwife checked me and I was 10cm, station +2. I was ready to start pushing. However, I buried my head in the pillow with tears coming down my face and accepted the Pain Relief option!!! The whole process of getting the second epidural was so uncomfortable. It was so difficult to sit up on the side of the bed in labor having strong, painful contractions and knowing that Rylee was ready to make her entrance into this world. Thankfully, the anesthesiologists worked diligently to give me pain relief. The second one was in, medicine was infused, and then I hear there is blood in the line. They have to pull the second one and try for a third!! I was able to get some relief, but the third one was inserted by the Attending in seconds. He gave me an extra dose of fentanyl and I started to feel relief. In minutes I was becoming comfortable and was pain free...Thank God! After the epidural event, I was completely relaxed and ready to push this baby out!!! My nurse said "I will let you rest for about 20 minutes and then we will start pushing". So, it was 5pm and I was ready. Well, at this time my midwife was tied up, so we had to wait for her. I believe around 5:20ish Jenny arrived in the room and the pushing began!! As soon as I started pushing, the sun started shining for the first time on that cloudy Tuesday. My nurse had suggested that I try pushing on my side. She said that for years women pushed on their sides and had a less chance of tearing. I rolled over on my left side first and pushed then I rolled over to my right side. The pushing did not hurt at all thanks to my great epidural!! Again, Robbie was a great coach at counting during my breathing and pushing. My nurse grabbed my hand and said feel this...It was Rylee's head she was coming out!! I was so overwhelmed with emotion...I think after one more push the nurse and midwife told me to reach down and I helped bring Rylee to my chest. The moment of laying eyes on my daughter for the first time was amazing. I remember tears streaming down my cheeks, looking at Robbie with so much love, and cries of joy from my Mom, Mother-in-law, and Sister-in-law. I remember hearing Rylee's sweet, sweet cry for the first time and the touch of her skin...she was so soft and delicate. She was beautiful and perfect. She was our sunshine!! In that moment my heart grew even bigger. I was holding my baby girl, kissing her, and wishing her a Happy Birthday!!

After Rylee and I were cleaned up, Robbie went to get the BIG sister. I could hear Reese out in the hallway saying, "Rylee's out, She is out!!" You could hear the excitement in Reese's sweet voice. She walked in and saw Rylee for the first time and said "Awwww." Then she revealed that she liked her!! Reese was so very proud. She was able to hold her on the bed with me. I asked if she wanted to sing her a song. Reese started singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and then Happy Birthday. It was all such a precious moment of sisters meeting for the first time. A memory I will always have and thankfully we have it captured on video!!

Rylee's Arrival Part 1

Little Miss Rylee Ellis made her debut on February 22, 2011 @ 5:49 pm. She weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and measured 20 1/2 inches long. Our baby girl is beautiful, healthy, & perfect in every way!

Her birth story is one to remember. I worked Sunday and Monday nights. Monday was my last shift before starting my maternity leave. Since her sister was a week late, I figured I would work up until my due date which was that Thursday! My sweet co-workers had brought all kinds of goodies for me. One food was a mexican dip that i devoured! Well, by midnight I was having cramp-like pain every 30 minutes or so. By the end of my shift all my coworkers were concerned that I was in labor. I walked myself up to L & D. The nurses asked if I thought I was in labor. I said, " I don't think I would be this happy if I was!" They said go home and get some rest, which I did.

I woke up Monday afternoon feeling fine, so I planned to go to work for my last shift. I started experiencing cramping again around midnight. The cramps would come and go every 20-30 minutes. By 4am the cramps or contractions were very consistent...every 1o minutes. While I was sitting at the computer charting at 6am, I noticed that my contractions were coming more frequently. They were now every 6 minutes apart. I paged my Midwife. She told me to come up to L&D but take my time...go eat something, etc. The midwife coming in at 7am would check me...Stephanie, the midwife, said you are probably not a keeper...you are most likely experiencing the early stages of labor. I continued to finish my shift, give report, call Robbie, and tell everyone good-bye. I was not hurting, but I was becoming uncomfortable. I walked myself up to L&D and checked into triage. A L&D nurse walked me to a small triage room and had me change into a gown. I was thinking I am so tired I just want to sleep. My nurse midwife, Jenny, came to the triage room and checked my cervix. She says, "You are a 4 no 5 cm, 80% effaced, and station 0...You will be admitted." I really couldn't believe it!!! I had seriously labored in the PICU!

I'm back in blogger land!! It's been over a year since my last post & a lot has changed in the Huffstetler family! We now have a 3 year old in the house & a new baby girl in my belly!!!

Reese is a vibrant and spunky little girl full of life & energy! She has grown so much in the last year. She still loves to entertain us, especially with her sweet voice. Justin Bieber's song "Baby" and Annie's "Tomorrow" are her definite two favorites!! She goes to preschool 2 days a week and enjoys making arts and crafts, learning new songs, and playing with her friends. Reese's teacher, Mrs. Jackie, told me this fall that in her 23 years of teaching Reese was the most well-rounded child she has ever taught! What a super nice comment, which made me one proud Mama!! Reese is a blessing to our family, and I can't wait to see the moment she becomes a BIG Sister!!

As far as my pregnancy goes, I am almost 37 weeks along. We are having another princess and her name will be Rylee Ellis. This pregnancy has been a lot more trying for me in my first and second trimesters. I had nausea for about 6 straight weeks and then headaches for weeks upon weeks in my 2nd trimester. Thank goodness I feel great in my 3rd trimester. It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I will be a mother of 2 little girls in less than a month!! I am looking forward to this upcoming transition in our household. The experience of having a newborn and an older child is one I welcome with open arms.

I will make it an effort to blog on a regular basis, especially when I am on maternity leave!! Enjoy our stories about the Huffstetler household!

TWO Years old…

Our baby girl turned TWO on December 12, 2009! And What an amazing two years it has been! Our beautiful blessing has become this Magnetic and Spectacular little girl. She keeps us on our toes, makes us SMILE, and I believe is born to be a STaR!! Reese loves to entertain as she dances or sings and strikes her infamous pose when the camera is in reach.

Robbie and I could have never imagined our life more beautiful or meaningful. We are so proud to be Reese’s parents and are super excited to experience 2 years old!!

Here is a look at our baby girl!!! She thinks she is pretty cool as you can see! But, I would have to agree that she is one cool kid!! Robbie and I say that she is growing up way too fast. How awesome would it be if we had the power to stop time?! I know as parents we would love her to stay this age. Reese is full of energy and her bubbly personality shines through. She loves to entertain us or just cuddle up beside you and play with your hair! Our little diva makes our life more joyful!! So here’s to 23 months!!

Reese’s Top 21 @ 21 months!!!

1. Cheese. Reese has become quite the “poser”. When you say, “Cheese” Reese strikes a pose…usually with her hands on her hips!! She started doing this while we were on vacation! It’s pretty funny to see!

2. Preschool. Reese started preschool on September 8th! It is a playschool that has been going strong for 25 years. She loved it so much that she didn’t want to leave!! There are 5 other kids in her class and she has two teachers…Ms. Beth and Ms. Sarah. Reese is going on Tuesday mornings from 9-11:50am. The pictures below are from her 1st day…she had a rough start. Reese is NOT a morning person!

3. Funny Faces. Reese loves to make funny faces. If you watch Yo Gabba Gabba you understand. She also has a happy and mad face which are pretty cute!!

4. Exercise. Reese loves to work out with me and Jillian Michaels! I think she likes the push-ups and kick boxing moves the best!! We also had a trial gymnastics class at a local gym last week and learned that Reese does not like to wait her turn! She does like to crawl through tunnels and the monkey bars!

5. Cheers. Celebrations are everyday at our house! Reese has to “Cheers” our cups morning, noon, and night!!

6. Happy Birthday! Our little performer loves to sing Happy Birthday then pretend to blow out the candle!!

7. Quiet & LOUD. Reese has learned the difference between a quiet voice and loud voice. It is fun to watch her demonstrate!

8. Tee-Tee. Reese started showing interest in using the BIG potty when we stayed with my friend Tamara and her little girl Lilly. Lilly is just recently potty trained…Reese was thrilled to sit on her “Dora” seat. We now have a Sesame Street potty seat at our house. She will point to her diaper and say “tee-tee”. We will place her on the throne, but we haven’t had a successful showing of tee-tee!

9. Brave. Reese continues to have NO fear…good in some ways, scary in others!!

10. Hair Twirl. Yes, our little girl has always had an infatuation with hair. Now, she has also become quite the hair twirler! Thank goodness we haven’t had any major knots!!

11. Shoes. Reese can put her crocs on all by herself and usually has them on the RIGHT feet! She also loves to wear Mommy and Daddy’s shoes!

12. Drawing. It can be a dry erase board, Daddy’s ipod, or a plain piece of paper…Reese loves to draw. Circles are her forte!

13. Pacifier. This is Reese’s buddy!! She likes to have it when she is sleepy and sometimes just because. She will point to her mouth and say “Pappy” when it is nowhere to be found!

14. Detangler. Every morning we have to spray Reese’s hair with Detangler. She loves it!

15. Imagination. Reese is learning the concept and will make you “199” vanilla ice cream cones a day! She had a wonderful time exploring the Greensboro Children’s Museum. The museum gave her ample opportunities to “pretend”!

16. Loving. Reese is so affectionate and caring towards others. She is gentle around babies and is quite the little mommy!

17. Blonde. Yes, Reese has become blondie over the summer!!

18. Fishie. She loves fish and lives to go down the fish aisle in Wal-mart! I think she may be getting a fish of her own very soon!

19. Naps. Usually one a day…lasting anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours.

20. Technology. Reese is definitely a child of 2009. She can work her daddy’s ipod touch in seconds and walks around the house listening to “Reese’s tunes” on her mommy’s ipod nano.

21. Happy. Reese makes our family so HAPPY! We love our Brown Eyed Girl and love to see her grow and learning new things!! Happy 21 months!!

I know I disappeared from Blog~land for awhile, but I’m back!! We have been super busy this last month…going somewhere almost every weekend. We have had lots of fun and have tons of pictures to prove it!

JuLy consisted of a wedding at Bald Head Island (actually the last weekend in June), trips to Whiteville to visit Grammy and Ganga, a trip to Busch Gardens, 2 trips to Batchelor Bay, Ocean Isle beach, Tamara’s baby shower for her identical twin boys, play~dates, fun times with Gamma and Poppy at Duke, and last but not least Reese’s 1st Hair cut!! See, I told you we have been busy!! Hope you all are having a wonderful summer as well! Enjoy the multitude of pictures!

One Sleepy Girl from all her travels…

What…I have an 18 month old!!? Yes, I do…a beautiful, charismatic, healthy, and energetic baby girl!! What did we do before this Princess entered our world? She definitely makes our lives more wonderful!! Robbie and I are so in LOVE with Miss Reese!! I also know all her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are in LOVE, too!!

This month Reese has a love for “Fishies”!! She likes Nemo the movie (since she was 12 months), Nemo fruit chews, and the fishies at Wal-Mart or Pet Smart! She will tap on the pantry door and say, “Fishie, Fishie!” I am always amazed at how much she knows and understands!

Our baby girl is Miss Independent!! She wants to do everything by herself. At meal times she feeds herself with her spoon and fork or hands. Yogurt is one of her favorites. Reese loves to make a mess, but she really gets messy with Go-Gurt! Her Daddy taught Reese to take trash to the garbage can, so that is becoming a “fun” thing to do! She loves to help me load the dryer and sort the clothes. I will love it when the time comes and Reese can fold the laundry…and put the clothes up!

It is so exciting to see things for the FIRST time through my daughter’s eyes. Like a bowling ball being spit out of the ball return…she got sooooo excited and covered her mouth with her hands in amazement!! She loves it when she hears an airplane and will point to the sky! Or when we saw bunnies and a baby deer running wild on our morning walk…her face lights up and is one of my favorites things to see on daily basis!!

These pictures are on her actual 18th month birthday (June 12th). I treated her with an orange cream slushie from Sonic. She loved it!! After a wonderful Mexican lunch date with Tully and friends, she rested on her air mattress…another fave of the month!!

Happy 18 months baby Reese!! We are so lucky to have YOU in our lives!! We LOVE You!

Birthday and Wedding weekend!!

Last Friday Robbie turned the BIG 3-0!! Happy Birthday!!! We were in the mountains for another Robbie’s wedding! My Robbie had the chance to play golf on the morning of his big day with the groom and groomsmen, which he was very happy to do! That evening we joined the wedding party at the Sorrento Bistro in Banner Elk for the Rehearsal dinner…it was a Luau theme since the bride and groom were honeymooning in Hawaii! We had a wonderful dinner and walked many laps around the outside of the restaurant entertaining Reese. As the evening progressed, Reese became very sleepy so we returned to the hotel. Robbie stayed out and celebrated 30 years and Robbie O. becoming a married man!

The wedding was held at the Banner Elk Winery and Blueberry Villa. It was a beautiful day for the bride and groom. Reese and I watched the ceremony from inside the villa, which is gorgeous!! I didn’t want Reese to scream for her Daddy while he walked down the aisle! After the ceremony, we made our way down to the reception site. Reese played with other kiddos and danced on the dance floor with her Mommy! This was Reese’s first wedding experience. We had a wonderful time and wish Robbie and Amanda Ormsby best wishes on their new life together!!

Socon Tournament

The Elon baseball team traveled to Greenville, SC May 20-24 for their conference tournament this year. In the years past it has been hosted in Charleston, SC by the Citadel. To give the tournament an even playing field the minor league team, the Greenville Drive, hosted the event. I think everyone enjoyed strolling down Main Street and exploring all the things that Greenville has to offer. Even though Elon did not win the tournament this year, they walked away as Regular Season Champs and to the Atlanta Georgia Tech Regional.

Robbie and I took Reese to the NC Zoo back in May! It was a beautiful spring day! Reese had a blast looking at the animals that weren’t sleeping! She had the best time watching the seals! They had just been fed and were very entertaining. I think we were at the seal exhibit for a good 20-30 minutes. After spending the afternoon at the zoo, Reese slept all the way home!! We had a great family day!!

My BABY GIRL is 17 months old!!!

Man, oh Man, Where does the time go? Everyone told me that the first year would fly bye! Well, now we are almost at the 1 1/2 year mark and time is not stopping!! What can I say about this little person that has brightened my world beyond measure. She is miss Independent and tries to do everything herself. Reese is constantly drawing these days and talking up a storm. You can’t always understand what comes out of her mouth, but this little girl has a LOT to talk about!! Her best word by far is ELLL-LIE!! Reese and Ellie Mae are becoming great friends especially when Reese hand-feeds Ellie vanilla wafers!

Reese is such a JOY and I am glad my days are filled with her beautiful smile and loving self!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mother’s out there!! I had the opportunity to celebrate with my wonderful Mom this year. It was truly special to watch my mom speak about a mother’s love during the church sermon. As a mother, I understand what an honor and blessing it is to become a Mother! The strong bond that I share with my daughter grows everyday. I love being Reese’s Mommy and it melts my HEART to hear her say MA-MA!!

Yes, my daughter LOVES the dirt or sand. She is content just sitting in the dirt with a stick. And she uses the stick as her writing utensil! We can thank her Gamma for that one. Reese loves to get dirty, but she also likes to dress up! She raided my jewelry box and this blue necklace caught her eye. For the last 3 days, she has accessorized with mommy's blue necklace! The funny thing is I was wearing the same blue necklace the day I found out that I was pregnant!!

We went to Elon's baseball games this weekend. The team is doing extremely well and will soon be playing in their conference tournament in Greenville, SC.

Honeycutt Reunion '09

This is a photo from my mother's side of the family at the annual Honeycutt reunion. My Meme, Beatrice, was a Honeycutt before she married my Papa Paul. The two of them were amazing individuals who loved life and family. I will always remember my Meme letting my cousins and I play beauty shop on top of her recliner. We loved taking turns combing her hair. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. One of her favorite past times was cross stitching. It was like a therapy for her arthritis. My Meme was a beautiful woman inside and out. I can't believe we have been without her for almost 19 years. My Papa had such a kind and gentle soul. He was known around town as the bubble gum man! He loved helping others and was a volunteer firefighter for many years. He could also cook the best bologna and cheese sandwiches!! We have been without my Papa for almost 9 years. My Meme and Papa both enjoyed our family reunion. It gave them so much joy to watch their grandchildren, nieces, and nephews compete in potato sack races, friendly softball or volleyball games, or simply sitting together learning about one another. My mother, my two aunts, and us grandchildren now carry on reunion traditions. This was the first reunion I was able to attend in many years. I want Reese to have the opportunity to meet all parts of her family. However, I wish she had been able to meet Meme and Papa. The special thing is that her middle name is my mom's maiden name, so she will always know her Great Meme and Papa!

We had a house full when Lilly, Tully, and baby Madison joined us for a playdate! The kids got along so well and the Mommies (Tamara, Whitley, and Beth) enjoyed having an "adult" conversation!! I made Hot Chicken Salad for lunch which was pretty yummy. It's a Paula Deen recipe that I discovered in blog~land! I actually tried to make the chicken salad a little healthy...However, I think it would have been better the unhealthy Paula way!! This was the first time I laid my eyes on Tamara's growing belly. She is expecting identical twin boys...Weston & Walker in August. Lilly is going to be a wonderful BIG sister and Tamara will be a great mother of 3!! I'm so lucky to have these girls in my life! I love getting together with each of them and talking about our days in motherhood amongst many other things...like reality TV!!! You gotta love American Idol and Housewives of NYC!! Can't wait until next time!

Who is this little diva?? My beautiful daughter who is growing so very fast right before my eyes!! She is learning independence that makes me so proud and so sad. Her newly found independence like wanting to feed herself makes me realize that she is growing up. My baby girl was able to feed herself with a fork!! She was successful 5 times in a row...it brought tears to my eyes! She's my baby...I want to feed her!! Reese is learning new things everyday! She loved Toddler Time at the library for the first time today!! After a few short minutes of sitting on my lap, she ventured out to the center of the floor with all the other kiddies. She was having a blast singing ABCs, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and many other songs! Reese is very friendly and lovable. She is constantly waving to everyone and blows kisses to the ladies at Chic-fila that cleaned the tables! I believe that is her way of saying Thank You!! She is such a fun-loving 15 month old who loves VANILLA WAFERS ELMO Sesame Street PLAYING OUTSIDE WALKING golf cart rides HAIR DANCING cuddling by your side the portable dvd player telephones and of course her FAMILY i wish everyone could meet my baby girl...she makes me smile a million times a day and smells like vanilla wafers!!! We LOVE you, Reese!!

1. I LOVE my Mommy and Daddy!!
2. I have been told that I am a wonderful baby! My Mommy and Daddy hope their second child is just as good as ME!
3. I am really into books. I sit down with my parents and they read to me and I usually read to them, too! I love my Peek-A-Boo books.
4. I like bananas...I think they are yummy! When my Mommy was pregnant with me, she craved banana foods like banana bread, banana ice cream with reese's cups, and just plain bananas!
5. My first summer vacation was at Ocean Isle Beach.
6. My Daddy is a college baseball coach and I love going to his games. His team's first game is Feb. 20th at Auburn. Go Elon!!
7. I started walking at 11 months and have not slowed down. I really like to run now!
8. Noggin is great television. I like Jack's Big Music Show and Pinky Dinky Doo!
9. I was born in Chapel Hill, so I am a true Carolina TarHeel!!
10. I really like HAIR! I am constantly rubbing my fingers through my own or I sit beside my Mommy and rub her hair!!

Today we said our goodbyes to Gus. We hated to part with him, but we know he will be much happier. Only those who have had dogs then children will understand. Gus has been the most wonderful, happy, and loyal dog that one could possibly be. However, since our Reese has arrived we just haven't been able to give Gus the time and attention that he needs. Therefore, we found him a home not too far away and he will have 6 acres to run and run some more. He will even have another boxer to play with. So, today is a sad day, but we know that Gus is probably running like crazy, digging, and finding all kinds of rocks and loving the freedom of his new home.
Goodbye our dear Gus...you will always have a special place in our hearts. We will miss you!

Reese turned 13 months old yesterday!! Her personality is shining through day by day. She says "Da-da, Ma-ma, NO, hey, and Mo (more). I think she has said thank you a couple times, too. It is quite amazing how much babies absorb and recall!! Reese continues to walk all over the house and sometimes tries to run!! Her smile and laugh melt your heart. She loves to eat table food! Mac-n-cheese, chicken tenders, and cheese are some of her faves. She also likes peaches, pears, and yogurt. Books and reading have become a favorite past time for our girl. She constantly brings you a book to read and loves curling up on the couch with a big stack. Reese loves all her toys from Santa and her birthday. The toys keep her busy, but she likes to wander in the kitchen and play with Mommy's tubberware, pots, and pans! She makes music with kitchen spoons and dances to Beyonce's commercial. Reese is our love and joy. She brings us happiness everyday, and we love watching our baby girl GROW!!

We had busy day on December 23rd. First thing that morning we headed over to Chapel Hill for Reese's hip x-ray. This was a follow-up from six months. Reese laid right on the table and did not move an inch. The xray tech shot the film and we were done. Then we had to wait forever to see the doctor. It was a good wait because we got great news...Reese's hips are perfect and completely normal! So no more xrays...Yay!!

After our visit in Chapel Hill, we headed to her pediatrician for her one year check up. I was not looking forward to this because it was the dreaded SHOT time...boo!! Before all the shots, Reese had fun playing with the toys and eating puffs while we waited!! As far as her stats go...Reese weighs 18lbs 15 0z and is 29 1/2 inches. Robbie and I both guessed wrong for her weight. We were sure she weighed at least 20lbs, but we were wrong. I guess she doesn't have time to pack on the pounds when she is walking like 10 miles a day!! Her shots went as well as expected. We had our favorite nurse and she was over and done within seconds. It is really amazing to see! Now, we don't return to the pediatrician until 15 months...maybe she will be 20lbs by then!!

This post has a ton of pictures! Our Christmas festivities just recently concluded this past Sunday. Unfortunately, I had to work Christmas this year (hospitals are open 24/7!!), so we started celebrating the weekend of Dec. 19th in Whiteville with my in-laws...we were at home on the actual day and ate lunch in Greensboro with the Mangums...and finished our Christmas celebration at my mom's this past weekend. Overall, our holiday was wonderful and busy!! Please bear with me...The pictures actually start from the weekend of the 28th and work towards the weekend of the 19th! Enjoy!! One day until Reese's 1st Birthday!!!

A year ago today, I was admitted to the hospital for my scheduled induction. It was a beautiful morning and very warm for December. The temperature was in the 70's! There were so many feelings and thoughts going through my head that morning. I wasn't nervous, but very excited to meet my baby girl! Robbie made me breakfast...bacon and eggs. However, he could not eat anything because his stomach was doing flips...he was nervous.

We arrived at the hospital right at 8am. Due to labor & delivery being crazy busy and short staffed, my induction kept getting delayed. Instead of the pitocin starting that morning it didn't start until 1pm. Once it started I didn't feel any pain. My contractions looked beautiful on the monitor, but nothing was happening...until my water broke around 5pm. After that look out!! My wonderful midwife, Stephanie, said that when I was calling on the Lord I was in labor. Well, let me tell you I was calling on the Lord after my water broke. My contractions came fast and strong! I asked for my epidural and was pain free by 7pm. My thought is Why sit in pain if there is medicine that can help?! Would you go to the dentist and not receive pain meds...I don't think so! My epidural went in without difficultly and I was able to relax. I progressed to 9cm by 11pm and started pushing at 1am. Due to Reese's head position, I pushed for an hour and then rested for 30 minutes. The little stinker's head was turned slightly to the side which made it difficult for her to descend. I started pushing again around 2:30 am and by 3:43 am Little Miss Reese made her debut!! Robbie was by my side the entire time and was a terrific coach!! Reese's birth was an amazing experience for the both of us. It was truly a miracle to finally see your baby girl who you had named, talked to everyday, and felt kick inside you. The first time I held her there was instant love...she was loud, beautiful, and perfect in every way. Reese has brought so much love and joy into our lives. I thank God everyday for blessing us with our angel, Reese Avant!!

It was so ironic that one of my best friends, Whitley, and I were due on the same day, scheduled to be induced on the same day (12 hours apart), and then delivered on the same day!! We know that Reese and Tully will always have a special bond and friendship. As their mothers, Whitley and I hope they will be future Husband and Wife...wouldn't that be just Grand!!

Kylie, my niece, visited the Huffstetler household last Monday night. She was staying with Gramma and Poppy and they decided to head to Graham for the Veteran's Day holiday. Kylie and Reese have not seen each other in a long time, so it was great to see the girls interact. Reese wanted to do everything that Kylie did...like riding the tricycle. It was quite a site to see...Reese chasing her big cousin all over the house! We also had a fun-filled day shopping, eating, and playing at the park on Veteran's Day. What a wonderful time...We can't wait for everyone to visit again!

11 months of FUN!!

Reese is 11 months old...as of yesterday!! I think she woke up and decided that she would walk on her 11th month birthday! She has been taking steps all over the house. Her waddling walk is the cutest thing ever! Reese loves to explore the Huffstetler house and in places she should not...like trying to unplug the lamp...over and over. She has climbed up the stairs, of course, with supervision. I believe Reese thinks she has reached the summit of Mt. Everest and immediately starts clapping when she finishes. Reese likes to sing and yell at the top of her lungs and enjoys doing the Itsy bitsy spider and I'm a little tea pot! She still has zero teeth, but I do believe one is about to pop through anyday now. She absolutely loves Gerber little cheese puffs and likes the puffs that melt in your mouth. She can show you her tongue on demand and tries to show you her nose...however, she points at her eye or cheek most of the time! Reese continues to laugh like "woody wood pecker", which started about a month ago. It is quite hilarious the first time you hear it!! Our little angel has brought so much happiness to our lives and each day gets better and better!!

The "Deep Fried" NC State Fair!!

Last Monday we ventured out to the NC State Fair. This was Reese's first time at the fair...not counting last year when she was in my tummy! The weather was actually fall like which was nice for a change. Robbie and I ate way too much including roasted corn, fried chicken, deep fried reeses' cups and then we shared a deep fried snickers bar...Yummy! If you have never tried one of these little "deep fried" pieces of heaven you definitely should. You don't know what you are missing! Reese was able to sample some of the fresh squeezed lemonade provided by her Aunt Tamara!! Reese loved the lemonade and kept going back for more! We took Reese on two rides, the carousel and cars. I think the carousel went a little too fast for Reese and her Daddy's liking! She was reaching for her Daddy before the ride was over. Overall, we had a wonderful time. I know we will definitely visit next year...Robbie wants to try the deep fried pecan pie!!

Duke Gardens in the Fall

Here are some pictures of our time at Duke Gardens with Lilly and Tully. This was the first time in five months that Whitley, Tully, Reese, and myself had seen Tamara and Lilly. We had a wonderful time watching the babies interact and enjoyed a picnic lunch! It was a definitely a HOT fall day!

Five Years

Reese turned 10 months old last Saturday...so I am a little late with this posting! I always say this but it is hard to believe that I have a 10 month old baby. These past 10 months have been some of the best and in just 2 short months I will have a 1 year old!! Reese is crawling and cruising everywhere. She actually took her first 2 steps yesterday!! Yay!! Reese loves to say "Dada" and says it all day long. When Robbie comes home and we hear the garage open, she will cruise to the end of the ottoman and wait for him. While she patiently waits for him to open the door, she chants "dada, dada, dada"...very cute! She does say "mama", but it is usually when she is really tired and wants me to hold her. And I love to hold Reese and cuddle with her!! Like I have said before Reese is truly a blessing and I thank God everyday for bringing her into our lives!! Enjoy Reese's hat pictures below!

The Razz & Tazz Farm

We decided to take Reese to the Razz & Tazz Farm this past weekend. I thought there was going to be a big pumpkin patch, however, to our surprise the farm's specialty is a corn maze. The farm has a maze for adults and one for kids. Unfortunately, for us we were too late to test our sense of direction. I'm pretty sure I could make it out the maze...not sure about Robbie!! Just kidding!! Robbie's sense of direction has improved tremendously over the years!! We had a great time walking around the farm and as you can see in the pictures below Reese had a wonderful time, too! She especially loved the "Elsie" cow!! Just look at her facial expressions...priceless!!!

We had a wonderful time celebrating my nephew, Evan's, 2nd birthday this weekend. It was held at his Grandma's house in Roxboro. The weather was perfect and the food was delicious. Yesterday, we went to the pediatrician for Reese's 9 month check up. Everything was GREAT!! We have a healthy baby girl! She weighed 18 lbs 10 oz and was 28 1/4 inches long! Reese is still in the 50th% for weight and 75th% for height and head circumference!

Reese also loves her new highchair. We decided that it was time to retire the bumbo seat! Have a Happy Tuesday!

9 MONTHS OLD!!!

A year ago today this picture was taken. We knew at the time that a precious little girl was growing inside my belly. We did not know that she was going to be the "BEST" little girl ever!!! Robbie and I think Reese is absolutely wonderful! Everyone tells us that we are so very lucky and blessed to have such an "easy" baby! All we can say is Thank You!!! Reese is a JOY to be with everyday. I know that we have been truly blessed beyond measure. In the picture below I had thoughts of what Reese would be like as a baby, but she has totally blown those all away!

I love being Reese's Mommy!! This last month she has changed so much. She is definitely becoming a "little" person with lots of personality, drama, and attitude! It is a highlight of my morning to wake up and see this beautiful baby girl smiling back at me. She is either standing up in her crib or peeking through the rails to see you walk in her nursery. And she will now raise her hands in order for you to pick her up. Reese will make the slightest peep to let you know that she is awake or will just hang out in her crib until someone wakes up. She is so excited to see you and gives you her biggest grin! Lately, she has started to become quite the cuddle bug in the mornings. Reese will lay her sweet head on my chest and just cuddle with me...I love morning time with my baby.

Reese is also becoming quite the night owl. She usually goes to bed around 8:30pm or 9pm. Well, not for the last week. She will catch a power nap around 7:30ish, and we think she is down for the night! Oh no...Reese will stay up until 10:30pm just smiling, laughing, and playing. We think she is teething, so maybe this has something to do with her extended night life! Speaking of teething, we have Zero teeth. I really think one is about to pop through on the bottom any day now. She is such a trooper and constantly has something in her mouth...her fingers, our fingers, teething rings, toys, books, etc. Please little tooth show your pearly face soon!!

Reese has also started to shake her head "NO". Robbie didn't think she knew what she was doing, but I think she does. If I am feeding her and she doesn't want another bite she will consistently shake her head "NO" and smile. She is quite the little stinker!

Reese loves having the ability to move! She continues to army crawl at an olympic speed and cruises from ottoman to couch a hundred times a day! She actually showed interest in the stairs last night, but did not succeed in climbing up!! Thank Goodness!

These last 9 months have been some of the best! Robbie and I love being parents!! We are so thankful that we were blessed with a child. Parenthood is truly an amazing adventure. There's nothing like it! We LOVE being Reese's Mommy & Daddy!!! She's the BEST!!!

Reese is everywhere now...she is crawling and cruising all over the place. Her Grammy and Ganga brought her this shiny red tricycle. She loves for you to push her through the kitchen and living room. It's quite the workout!

Reese absolutely loves & adores the video..."I'm so Glad" by Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town. She first laid eyes on the video while watching the television network Noggin. Reese's face lights up when she hears the music! Happiness and Joy radiate from her eyes. She starts clapping and bouncing to the beat! It's a very cute video about being glad for your eyes, nose, teeth, skin, etc. We hope you all like the video that makes our baby girl grin from ear to ear...I'm so glad!! Enjoy!

On Wednesday we had a playdate with my friend, Missy, and her twin girls, Larkin and Evidah. It was a joy to watch Reese interact with the girls. They all played really well with one another and the Toper girls introduced Reese to Elmo. Larkin & Evidah LOVE Elmo!! We can't wait for the next get together!!

Waterworks & Thrill Rides = King's Dominion!!!

My mom & step-dad stopped by our house on the way back from their mountain vacation this Thursday. We then decided that it would be a perfect opportunity to take a trip to King's Dominion. My mom and step-dad purchased a season pass, and it is their goal to take all their children and grandkids!! This time Reese and I were able to jump aboard the van to Virginia! Robbie is in Massachusetts until Monday morning recruiting for Elon. He doesn't like rides, so he didn't miss out on that part...but I hate that he wasn't with us on the carousel. However, Reese's poppy videoed her 1st carousel ride...Thanks! Reese was such the little trooper! We left my mom's at 8am and did not return until midnight! She was pooped and so were the rest of us. Reese is a wonderful baby...we have learned that you can take her any where and she will adapt. My mom constantly calls Reese her "angel" baby! She definitely is an Angel!!! Here are some pictures of our jam packed and fun filled day at King's Dominion!!!

After sitting with Gamma while me, Ryan, Cameron and my step-dad rode some thrilling roller coasters, it was time for Reese to take a little dip! Here she is in the Little Barefoot Pool!! The water was pretty chilly!

My little social butterfly is always meeting new friends! It's amazing how little kids are attracted to babies. This little girl came up to Reese and kept saying..."baby, hat, baby, hat!"...very cute. There was a little boy about 3 or 4 years old that came up to me and asked if he could take Reese home. He said, "I don't have a real baby of my own...can I have her?" I thought that was pretty hilarious!! Too bad I didn't see his mom to let her know that she needs to get busy having him a baby brother or sister!!!

Lately, Reese wants everyone in public to know that she is HERE!! She is very vocal these days everywhere we go!!

Reese tried Biter Biscuits for the first time this weekend. She didn't like them at first, but with a little help from poppy I think she is starting to!

We didn't want to leave the amusement park without little miss Reese experiencing her first ride!! My mom, Ryan, Cameron, Reese, and myself all rode the carousel while poppy caught all the excitement on video!

Reese and her Gamma riding the pretty horse...I think she wanted to ride mine that went up and down!! Giddy up, ya'll!!

Dress up time...Cameron, Me, Reese, & Ryan tried on these goofy hats in the gift shop. Reese picked out the purple monkey and had to have it...a treat from Poppy & Gamma!

Ryan, Cameron (my step-brothers), and I decided to bring out the daredevil side of us all! We signed up to ride the XtremeFlyer. This experience is the breathtaking thrill of hang gliding and skydiving. They hoist you up about 170 feet in the air. Then you free fall approximately 17 stories and reach speeds up to 60 mph!! WOW!!! Who would sign up for this??? Well, we did!

And let me tell you...it was AWESOME!! The scariest part was the upward climb where they hoisted us up to 170 feet. Then 3-2-1-FLY! Ryan pulled the rip cord and we were flying!! It was an amazing experience. We all loved it and were so glad that we decided to ride...I guess the next adventure will have to be skydiving!!!
