Roll Call!

Reese is rolling over and she loves it! Here is a short video...we were going to play peekaboo, but she wanted to roll over instead! Enjoy!! And you will just love her squeaky laugh!

Here is Reese showing off her rolling over skills!

Ultrasound update...

Miss Reese had her hip ultrasound this morning...she was such a good girl! The Pediatric Radiologist from Duke performed the ultrasound and found a very mild subluxation (dislocation) of the left hip. Reese's hip is not dysplastic (malformed). However, due to the mild subluxation, we will be referred to UNC's Orthopedic team. The UNC physician will determine the treatment for Reese's little hip. I do not have my appointment at UNC scheduled. The nurse from our pediatrician's office made the referral to UNC today. I hope we hear something tomorrow about a date. I will keep you all posted.

The Weekend!

This past weekend my sister and nephew came to visit us. Sara graciously babysat Friday night for a few hours. I had to work and Robbie had a baseball game. Mr. Evan was a big helper fetching wipes and playing with Reese. You should see Evan hug and adore his baby cousin. He loves her hair and you could catch him rubbing her head full! Saturday was a Beautiful day, so we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. Sara and I took the babies to the Burlington City Park. Evan was able to ride the tractor and we all rode the train. I think the little ones had a great time and the Mommies did, too!!

Which Celebrity Mom are YOU?

Who's your celebrity MOM match? Take this short quiz to find out!

15-22 Outdoorsy Mom: Your celebrity style match is Jennifer Garner. You and your little one are always out and about. Whether it’s playing on the beach, picnicking at the park, or hitting the trails with the jogging stroller, you love getting fresh air and are teaching your child to love nature as much as you do. Other famous outdoorsy moms: Marcia Cross, Keri Russell, and Naomi Watts. My score 22.

Play-date & pretty afternoon

Man...how things change!!

Times have definitely changed. Last week Whitley and I met for lunch at Southpoint. After strolling the little ones around, we put them both in their baby carriers. We started laughing so hard thinking about how our lives have changed. Just 4 1/2 months ago we would walk around the mall with our big bellies taking our precious time. These days our little bundles of joy rule the world!! They let us know what we will be doing or not doing! Before babies our lives may have been easier, but now our lives are so much better! We have been blessed with two wonderful babies!

Tamara has been in the area for the last couple of weeks, so we have had the opportunity to hang out with her and Lilly. It's funny to think that 10 years ago we were all about to start our freshman year at Peace College and now we are all mommies!! I am so blessed to have these two very special friends. Times may have changed but our friendship has grown stronger!

Reese's 4 month check up...

We went to Reese's 4 month check up yesterday. She weighed 14 lbs. 2 oz. and measured 24 5/8 inches long. Reese is in the 55th % for all her measurements. Her pediatrician said that we could start rice cereal. Well, we tried...I don't think Reese likes it very much. We will keep trying. Reese also received 3 shots and 1 oral medication again. She did very well considering the fact that her Mommy and Daddy forgot her paci! Robbie picked her up and held her for awhile. She pushed her bottom lip out and made us feel terrible. Once she was in her carseat, she fell fast asleep...and off to Target we went!! Reese was a Champ! Here are pictures of her first experience with rice cereal!

Mom! What is this stuff?!!

After all the good news, our pediatrician told us about a finding on Reese's exam. If you are a recently new mom or dad you probably notice the doctor moving your baby's legs in and out. They are checking their hip bones. Well, Reese's left hip has a "click". This sign can be suspicious of hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is defined as the abnormal formation of the hip joint in which the ball at the top of the thighbone (the femoral head) is not stable within the socket (the acetabulum). The ligaments of the hip joint may also be loose and stretched. I have also read that hip dysplasia is most common in females, breech position, and firstborns. Reese is female and firstborn. Hip dysplasia can occur in fetal development, delivery, or after birth. This finding could be nothing, but our pediatrician has ordered an ultrasound to be on the safe side. Reese is at the fine age of having either an ultrasound or x-ray. Our appointment is next Wednesday for an ultrasound. I assume if the radiologist can't see everything he needs to he will then order an x-ray. The Duke radiologist will read the ultrasound and fax the results to our pediatrician. If Reese does have hip dysplasia she will most likely have to wear a harness...like the picture below.

The goal of the harness is to redirect the thighbone to sit deeply into the hip socket. Worst case scenario would be surgery. Everyone say a little prayer that Reese's hip is perfectly fine or that we can correct her problem with the harness. A wonderful story...get your tissues!!

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.' Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.' Who will protect me?' God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.'But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.'At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.'God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom

Reese is 4 months old!!

Our little angel is four months old! It is amazing how much she has changed in such a small amount of time! She has found her voice and loves to use it. She makes these high pitched squeals right after she laughs out loud! It is hilarious. Reese is also trying to master rolling over. I have witnessed her acrobatic skills twice. However, her daddy has not seen her roll over. She loves hanging out on her side, but sometimes can't manage to move her arm or kick her leg over! We go to her 4 month check up next week, so I will definitely update her stats! Robbie and I both laugh and smile at Reese mulitple times a day. She is a real JOY! Here is a look back at Reese from the start of her life in December until now...Enjoy!
